It’s time for celebrations for our two apprentices Lucy and Dan this week for successfully passing their year long apprenticeship in Level 2 Business Administration at our Head Office in Leeds.

Lucy and Dan joined RFM Group last summer as they embarked on their apprentice course with Key Street Training, who we have been in partnership with for the last four years, and have been a valuable asset to the team as they progressed through their training programme.

With a focus in the HR and Finance department each has undertaken a schedule of work-based tasks alongside independent study and supporting the team. Their progression has been guided by the support of our own team members, and both have benefited from experienced mentoring from Jayne our Purchase Ledger who has ensured they get the most out of the programme.

We asked both Lucy and Dan to answer a few questions about their apprenticeship.
Take a look at what they had to say…

Have you enjoyed your role at RFM Group?

Yes

What has been the most important thing that you have learnt?

Working in an office environment and working in the HR department. I’ve also learnt some finance skills how to use the programmes and process invoices etc.

If you could do it again, what would you do differently?

I would have liked to have been in my current place within the team for a little longer as part of my training, as since I’ve been sat with finance I have learnt lots as well as been able to assist Becky more with HR.

What has been your favourite memory since joining the company?

Christmas party!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully with a larger understanding of HR and with more qualifications in that department.

What made you choose to take an apprenticeship over college/university?

I believe it’s better in the long run getting as much work experience as possible and having qualifications doesn’t always guarantee a job at the end of it.

Have you enjoyed your role at RFM Group?

Yes

What has been the most important thing that you have learnt?

The basics on working in a finance department and what each job that people do entails. I have also learnt a lot about finance platforms and what you can do with them.

If you could do it again, what would you do differently?

I’d learn to become more organised from the start.

What has been your favourite memory since joining the company?

Christmas Party!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully doing accountancy courses and being near my Level 3 AAT or maybe Level 4.

What made you choose to take an apprenticeship over college/university?

I could work towards the same qualifications without having a student loan and earning money during it as well. I am also getting experience working which I wouldn’t necessarily get if I went to Uni.

We look forward to seeing their progression within RFM Group as Dan continues studying for a qualification in Accounting AAT and Lucy studies for a qualification in HR.

A big thanks to them both for their continued hard work…and of course all the delicious cakes we’ve devoured today too!
