Turner & Townsend approached us to refresh the entrance hall and boardroom with a brief to address the limitations of the existing reception without making structural alterations to the space. The original reception desk was traditional and had insufficient space for visitors to sign as well as insufficient desk surface for the receptionist to carry out her admin duties. Plus the introduction of access control meant additional equipment for visitor badge printing and an additional monitor screen.
As the reception is less than 3 metres the new desk needed to be bespoke to provide a modern look, effective workspace and a nod to the more traditional nature and ‘quality’ of the building yet provide the necessary DDA access past the desk and into the building.
Our solution was a bespoke designed desk with white desk top and front featuring an led illuminated Turner Townsend logo to provide a bright welcome to the building. The desk side was higher for privacy in a walnut finish with aluminium feature strips. The space provided a ‘cockpit style’ seating position for the receptionist to be able to engage in other admin work.
We also sourced a matching credenza unit for visitors signing in as well as additional storage.
With a bespoke designed desk to fit the restricted space, the client can now easily undertake receptionist as well as administrative duties resulting in a rise in productivity and improved working environment. The visitor experience has also been improved with a professional, clean and welcoming entrance to the building.
