Blue-chip insurers’ flood response
Overview
After the 2016 floods in Cumbria, RFM stepped in to manage a surge of over 100 insurance flood damage claims. Over 18 months, we restored properties to pre-flood condition, delivering drying works, full kitchen and bathroom refits, redecoration, and structural repairs. Our local presence helped ease client stress and ensured clear, consistent communication during a challenging time, supporting those displaced from their homes.
Our approach
RFM assembled a team of experts to react to the unprecedented demand in the area.
Overall, we worked in Cumbria for 18 months. We stationed a temporary office there to reduce the stress for clients and minimize the issues that could have arisen through lack of communication. This helped support those dealing with the challenges of being without their homes through the period.

RFM completed repair works in over 100 properties to the satisfaction of all customers and insurance companies. Our project management system ensured the insurance companies alongside the customers, were fully informed at every stage.
The project team had to be extremely organised, scheduling works and co-ordinating trades to help multiple households concurrently. This connected approach meant that all houses were completed within agreed timescales and to the highest standards.
