The Brief
Storm Desmond caused major flooding in Cumbria in December 2015 and January 2016. The level of flooding was biblical, 1m (3ft) high water was reported with 5,200 homes flooded and over 45,000 homes losing power.
RFM Group were appointed to contract the surge in insurance claims within the area. The initial scope contained over 100 properties requiring flood damage repairs. Properties were to be restored to pre-flood conditions and RFM would be responsible for all works.

Our Approach
RFM assembled a team of experts to react to the unprecedented demand in the area.
Overall, we worked in Cumbria for 18 months. We stationed a temporary office there to reduce the stress for clients and minimize the issues that could have arisen through lack of communication. This helped support those dealing with the challenges of being without their homes through the period.

Outcome
RFM completed repair works in over 100 properties to the satisfaction of all customers and insurance companies. Our project management system ensured the insurance companies alongside the customers, were fully informed at every stage.
The project team had to be extremely organised, scheduling works and co-ordinating trades to help multiple households concurrently. This connected approach meant that all houses were completed within agreed timescales and to the highest standards.
